  1. Healthier choices

People often resist leading a healthier lifestyle as it seems to require giving up the usual routine completely. No wonder why this new year resolution may be connected to negative experiences – the bars are often set too high.

We advise moving step by step. Worried about your diet? Pick the healthier version of the treat you like. Want to improve your skin and microbiome? Avoid preservatives in cosmetics and home care products, pick safer alternatives, and find novel ways to surround yourself with good microorganisms. A healthy lifestyle is a marathon, not a sprint.

2. More sustainable living

Although it’s crucially important to live more sustainably, this aim is rarely reflected enough in our everyday behaviour. Next year we all should do much more! Let’s start now: find the top pollutants you use and think of ways to reduce their consumption.

For instance, did you know that washing clothes add a significant amount to your carbon footprint? Besides excessive usage of water and energy, this activity also releases high quantities of CO2 (carbon dioxide) into the atmosphere. Having easily accessible washing machines made us overdo the laundry even when the clothes are not dirty. Therefore, extending the intervals between washing clothes is one way to improve.

Also, be aware of cancerogenic ingredients, artificial colourants and preservatives in your everyday products! Aggressive sanitizers, laundry detergents and dishwashing liquids have dreadful long-term impacts on the environment and human health. You can easily replace them with effective eco-friendly solutions.

3. More mindful shopping

Planning what to buy in advance can reduce impulse buying.  Carefully reading product descriptions will help you get rid of unneeded, unhealthy, unsustainable products. It doesn’t mean that you need to spend hours shopping. Just make a quick assessment of what you buy now and once you find the better alternatives, stick to them!

4. Less waste

Both the Earth and the oceans are already filled with various trash that destroys the natural environment and causes a direct threat to thousands of species. Reducing waste is our shared responsibility.

Be aware of the packaging you purchase. Look for products from recycled plastic. Avoid overwashing that makes your clothes a textile waste quicker. Use more concentrated products: they need less packaging to do the same job!

5. Create your own mood

We often try to find a place, a person or a lifestyle that will help us feel better. But it’s time to realize that there is no specific happy place and no routine that will instantly produce endorphins. The secret to your happiness hides in you.

Start working on your own wellness today by understanding that you’re in charge of your own life. Don’t live on auto-pilot — look around and find what makes you excited. Whether it’s quality time with your beloved ones, a lazy afternoon at home or an improvised aromatherapy session — consciously add little pleasant moments to your daily plans to keep your mind healthy!

On behalf of the Probiotic Craft team, we’re wishing you a pleasant journey while aiming for your New Year’s resolutions to become true!
